Publishers on the path to self-reliance

Most of the growth seen in ad spending is concentrated into Google and Facebook. They are also the two biggest external referrers to publishers, with 49% coming from search and 27% from the social giant. The duopoly has created a true challenge for publishers. On this panel we invite experts to speak on diversifying revenue streams and audience acquisition.
Topic: Content Creation & Production Prepress & Printing

Dr. Lars Janzik

Since January 2018, Dr. Lars Janzik is CEO of Vertical Media. Until then, from March 2015, he was responsible for the digital products of the media brand WELT, an Axel Springer company. Previously, he served as Senior Director Product Management CE for the online recruiting specialist Monster, as well as in various executive positions for the software manufacturer Magix. Furthermore, in 2011 Lars completed his PhD on user innovation in online communities.

Moderation: Mads Holmen

Mads Holmen is co-founder and CEO at Bibblio, supporting publishers with tech to increase engagement, diversify revenue and drive audience. He’s a passionate ‘better web’ advocate and publishing industry commentator. Mads used to promote some of the world’s largest brands as part of goviral, where he worked closely with the founding team throughout the company’s rapid growth and sale to AOL for 96.7m USD in 2011. After the acquisition, Mads continued as planning director before founding Bibblio.

Justine Powell

Justine Powell is the founder at Huxley Hub. There she's working with a talented team to build a digital newswire, investigating and reporting the climate crisis. Prior to founding Huxley Hub, Justine worked at the crossroads of media and technology for more than two decades at the BBC, CNBC, AP and Handelsblatt. She started out as a journalist before moving into commercial roles.

Robbie Wild Hudson

Robbie Wild Hudson is the Editor-in-chief of BOXROX, a digital Competitive Fitness Magazine with over 1.2 million readers and 5 million page-views per month. He is a published author and holds several world swimming records including a crossing of the 7.5 km wide Moskstraumen Maelstrom in the Arctic, the largest whirlpool in the world. His other interests include painting, boxing and weightlifting.
