After two packed days at the DCX Digital Content Expo, the Berlin Publishing Tour on 10 October 2019 will take visitors from all over the world through the German capital to some of the most innovative media houses.
The last day of the Berlin Publishing Days is reserved for a new side event in the cool capital scenery. The Berlin Publishing Tour complete a learning trip where visitors can experience first hand what publishing means today. The Editorial Tour will bring DCX Digital Content Expo visitors to state-of-the-art newsrooms and includes also start-up ideas. Participants spend 90 minutes at each stop to meet with exciting conversation partners and to network with their international fellow travellers.
Editorial Tour: from News Organisation to Alternative Journalism
Media decision-makers interested in the latest newsroom trends should visit the Editorial Tour, which leads to media hotspots in Berlin parallel to the IFRA Print Tour. First stop in the morning is the Tagesspiegel, a Berlin daily newspaper founded in 1945. "Recognising the causes of things" is the motto of the newspaper, which is regarded as liberal. This stop promises insights into how a daily newspaper editorial team can position itself best in print and online media today.
In the afternoon we continue to the direct competitor – and thus the participants have a direct comparison. The Berliner Morgenpost, a German regional daily for the greater Berlin area, claims: old newspaper – fresh editorial office. The traditional newspaper, which today belongs to Funke Mediengruppe, is one of the pioneers in the daily newspaper landscape in Germany.
The participants can then get a fresh taste of start-up air from the Krautreporter. Founded in 2014 by Sebastian Esser (editor), Philipp Schwörbel (managing director) and Alexander von Streit (editor-in-chief), the company started with a crowdfunding campaign for subscribers and members. Krautreporter members are part of the editorial staff. Tour guests will learn how the knowledge and expertise of the community becomes alternative journalism and which approaches Krautreporter provides for it.
The Editorial Tour, which will be held in English, can be booked separately or as part of the Berlin Publishing Days including the ticket to the DCX Digital Content Expo. Registration at www.dcx-expo.com
